Just a pool, disguised as a pond, with a trampoline instead of a diving board.

I wrote a paper about these kinds of pools several years ago for a class when they were just prototypes. These pools have a natural filtration system that run based on the plants that are in the pool that give the water nutrients that allow it to not only be crystal clear, but you are also able to drink the water because it becomes so clean. And the best part is that once the initial filtration system is installed and calibrated, it maintains itself and eliminates the need for chlorine or constant maintenance like salt water pools.

These pools are pretty cool! They’ve been around since the 80’s in Europe, but are just now being implemented in the U.S.

Although they are rather clean I’d still run a UV sterilizer on it.

The season finale was perfect, and I’m so glad that this was a show I made sure to watch week in week out. So many great episodes, and many great memories tied to watching this show. Of course it couldn’t go on forever, but that doesn’t change the fact that Thursday nights will forever be missing a little something special.

This morning, the authorities in Union County, New Jersey issued an arrest warrant for the 34-year-old Caleb Lawrence McGillvary (better known as Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker) in connection to the homicide of a 73-year-old attorney named Joseph Galfy, Jr. According to the local news station WABC, the 73-year-old man was found bludgeoned to death in his home in Clark, New Jersey earlier this week on Monday. His current whereabouts remains unknown and a reward of $5,000 is being offered for his arrest.

This beer was quite the surprise. A waft of soy sauce on the nose left us confused, and scared us! The taste was beautiful! A creamy, vanilla filled mouthful! It tasted like fresh vanilla mixed with some slight coffee/chocolate notes. We found this to be amazingly delicious, and worth the purchase! Go now, and find this beer! Overall we gave it a 94/100, and we feel it’s worth every point!

Probably the best beer I’ve ever had that smelled like soy sauce!

Gordon Ramsey tries to talk sense into the crazy owners of Amy’s Baking Company Bakery Boutique & Bistro in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is the most nightmarish of all Kitchen Nightmares.

I edited it down to the relevant bits. It’s amazing that this is the food they serve (and the way they act) to a world-renowned chef on camera.

I can’t wait to get to this episode.

I haven’t even watch this video yet, but I’m gonna love it. I’m always skipping through to the good parts, but now I don’t have to! Also, I heard/read some amazing things about this place!

Lil’ Helper: A Lil’ More IPA was fun to try out. Another of our series of local(Missouri) brews that we are tasting, and it’s a great representative for IPA fans! We, along with Mother’s, suggest this with a pizza or anything with some fat in it. Mother’s also suggests a wide variety of sweet and spicy foods from Southeast Asian to Mexican.

Ethan gives it a 72/100… not an IPA fan. Dode gives it an 88/100!

80/100 isn’t too bad, but ya gotta be an IPA fan!

Today on Just the Sip we bring you the Summer Lager from Schlafly Beer, Saint Louis Brewery.

We found this beer to be fairly mild, and a great beer for a hot day. It’s flavor is crisp and clean, but we found it to be a little too mild. No bad flavors, and a great starter beer for someone who normally drinks BMC beers(Budweiser/Miller/Coors). We give it an 80/100!

Also, it’s American Craft Beer Week

Not bad; try it out if you are a basic beer fan. It can be your first step into the craft beer world.

besides… it just means more beer for all you IPA fans so shut yer pieholes ;-p

Different tastes for different people. Usually people who like IPA’s have taste buds that are low-average sensitivity, whereas highly sensitive (especially to bitterness) don’t enjoy them.

The people that can’t stand IPA’s aren’t wrong. Like she said, more beer for us.

The lame thing is when a beer judge/connoisseur doesn’t care for IPA’s and judges them poorly. They might not be to your taste, but there is a reason why they sell. Other people enjoy them, and rating them poorly won’t change that.

Ah, beer. Such a big world with so many opinions.

If you offend someone and then do try to reach out to understand why, THAT’S GREAT. Very well done doing what you should do. Just because someone offends you doesn’t make them wrong. If you aren’t willing to justify why they are wrong then you shouldn’t call them out. You should at least be willing to have a discussion. Instead, you are just trolling.

Much like our little argument. You said I was completely wrong, yet you didn’t want to try and resolve the issue or inform me how I was wrong. You just left it at how since I’m a guy that I can’t have an opinion on how to best make the point that women tend to be given the short end of the stick in the game of life. (My point for you tens of followers was that people don’t want to hear about periods at the mall food court as much as they also don’t want to hear about boners/semen. I guess this is trying to say we should spend more on education?

I just want to see the total spent, so here it is…

2.3 million (2011) incarcerated at all levels = $75,900,000,000 That’s tens of billions btw.

64 million (2006) in grade school/middle school/high school = $531,200,000,000/year This is hundreds of billions. Recent figures show we are actually spending more than $805 Billion/year.

Now for my thoughts.

First off, I think we do spend enough per kid when it comes to education. But we are ranked 37th on education spending they say… 37th when it comes to % of GDP. We destroy everyone else on the planet when it comes to education funding.

We have to focus on the pedagogy(science/art of education(how we teach kids)) not the money. Only in America is making $40K/year (some more/some less based on experience*) not enough. Now I’m not saying we need to go back to the days where kids were getting hit all the time, but some teachers have let off the throttle so to say. You gotta put in a good days work, and you have to hold the kids accountable. Of course this is just based on averages, and some school districts are terrible. I’m just speaking across the board.

Secondly, I think we need to lesson drug related offenses and treat them as a health issue and not as a crime. Well, as long as you didn’t commit some felony crime while on the drugs. It’s always gonna cost money to incarcerate, but hopefully we’ll be able to incarcerate less in the future!

*Salary data from my own school district via the state of Missouri government. In said school district only 44% of my teachers had a masters. So, I will concede that we at least need to focus on getting our teachers more schooling. If we do up the amount we put into education we need some of it, or all of it to go into more education for the teachers(kind of goes back to my point on focusing on Pedagogy).
