Long Term STAY-dium

An interesting example of adaptive reuse in Indiana- they are planning on turning an old baseball stadium into apartments. This seems to me to be something more beneficial in a university environment; however, I would like to find out more about this project specifically in terms of how it will be integrated into the existing community.

Interesting.

This is great, and while it would be more expensive you can always build up. The land has a built in park that would up property value, and give kids a safe place to play.

Just a pool, disguised as a pond, with a trampoline instead of a diving board

Holy fuck! I wrote a paper about these kinds of pools several years ago for a class when they were just prototypes. These pools have a natural filtration system that run based on the plants that are in the pool that give the water nutrients that allow it to not only be crystal clear, but you are also able to drink the water because it becomes so clean. And the best part is that once the initial filtration system is installed and calibrated, it maintains itself and eliminates the need for chlorine or constant maintenance like salt water pools.

I want one

I want one as well. They’ve been in use in Europe(especially Germany/Austria) for quite a while. With Americans becoming more interested in unique architecture/green shit, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of these!

They tore down the Goose Nest!

This was my home at Mizzou, and I shared it with some great friends of mine. The house was a huge pile of shit, but it was great for parties. We’d have a bunch of randos show up, and a few raccoons, groundhogs, possums, and moles! It was drafty, cold, hot, sweaty, a bit smelly, and the best place to be. Today I was talking with an alum at work about school, and the places we lived. I then come home and check facebook to find the old house has been demolished.

RIP House, you will be missed.

I guess it’s okay to paint houses pink. Can’t wait to own a home!

Modern Jungle Home in Costa Rica

Wow! I love this style. Mainly the green roofspace, but I dig the architecture as well. We need more stuff like this!

Lakefront Cottage Design Idea

I’ve been playing with Google SketchUp, and put together something similar to this. I really like the main buildings style for this application, but really love the idea of having some sort of tower.
