Anything below that is an F

is that real??

yup

Yup.

Anything below a 60 is an F… Also, some college course’s I’ve taken a 70% means you completed all that was asked of you, but to get the full 100% you have to go above and beyond the baseline goal of the project. Maybe it’s possible some schools fail you at 65%, but that’s not the ordinary scale. I think a 51% and up should be a pass since that means you know more than you don’t haha.

Here is the wiki for the UK system… I’ll let you explain it to me because it’s blowing my mind!

funsubstance:

Education today

I went to a school with budget issues, no AP classes, 5% of the kids going straight to four year schools, 45% of kids going to JuCo, and 50% of kids working on the farm/McDonalds/selling drugs. I’m either lucky or smart, but I did well on the ACT. Others did too. Some didn’t study like me, and others had to put some time into it. Some people did poorly. The ones that did poorly came from two groups of people.

1. The people that were just below average. Rich/poor, it didn’t matter. They just weren’t going to do well. Maybe they work things out in a different way, but changing the tests so they can score better doesn’t help them. They need a different education path that can bring them a good life.

2. The people that just didn’t want to put in the time. I know studying isn’t fun, but anyone can do it. Especially today where accessing study materials is relatively easy. Either through smart phones, basic home internet, or going to the library. At this time there are 3 students for every internet connected computer. Urban/Suburban/Rural rates are all the same on this one. This doesn’t include the libraries. Just schools.

Of this group I can see two sub-groups.

2A. The kids that just have a bad home life/possible mental issues like ADHD that is untreated, or some other tough issues that they need help with. Changing the tests won’t help them. We need to provide better healthcare, and better homes for these kids.

2B. The kids that just don’t care. They aren’t focused on going to college, and have other ideas of what they want to do.

If you want to complain about anything then complain about jobs not earning enough for the lower class. The inner city/rural kids that come from poor hardworking families tend to do the worst on tests. It’s not that the schools don’t need reform, but they are just a blip compared to the big problems in this country. If a kid is raised by people that don’t have time to show an interest in the child’s education then the child isn’t going to focus on learning.

Also, if you are someone who scored below what you were hoping for, and you’re on here… get off of Tumblr and hit the books… well, Wikipedia. If you put the time in to learn you’ll do better. I did okay, and I regret not caring more about my performance.

elderdad:

Hey here is an idea for the best prank ever thought of, and I only realized it a day after April Fools Day so fuck me.

You get Hulk Hands.

You leave the hulk hands outside on a busy sidewalk at night.

A group of teens/cool young adults passes by, and there’s Hulk Hands on the ground, so of fucking course they’re gonna take them and put them on, they just found free fucking Hulk Hands. This is a great night.

But here’s the thing.

Before you put the Hulk Hands outside

you pooped into them.

You pooped right into the hand holes.

The elation of the teens/cool young adults quickly turns to horror and you are an accomplished weird evil devil prankster.

This is much better than a poo dollar prank You have “le meme trolled” the teens, as they themselves would say, to the extreme.

March Madness

My picks +/-, and some interesting stats from recent Tourneys.

-8.3 losing score/game in games that I picked incorrectly during the Round of 64.

-8.8 pts/game in games that I picked incorrectly during the Round 32.

-9.75 pts/game in games that I picked incorrectly during the Sweet 16.

+18.3 pts/game in games that I correctly picked during the Round of 64.

+2.9 pts/game in games that I correctly picked during the Round of 32.

+7.0 pts/game in games that I correctly picked during the Sweet 16.

This is based off of my picks, and the outcomes that would have come forward had I swapped losing teams. Like ISU beating ND was factored as a loss, but I also had ND beating Duke. In that round I took ISU losing to Duke as a loss as well in these figures. I have Mich. State beating L-Ville, but now Duke replaces Mich. State in that match up. I get this really makes no sense, but I’m going with the idea that I thought a certain team was strong enough to win and if they lose then the team that beat them would be even stronger.

Of course this goofy way of looking at how right/wrong I was could only come from someone who has ONE Final Four team left. I’m just not good at this outside of the first round haha. This year has been an exciting tourney compared to last years, but nowhere near the 2011’s exciting collection of Elite 8 teams.

Current average seed left is 3.5. 9 seed Wichita State is currently the lowest seeded team in the Elite 8.

2012 Tourney Elite 8 average was 2.6. 4 seed Louisville was the lowest seeded team in the Final Four that year.

2011 Tourney Elite 8 average was 4.5. 8 seed Butler and 11 seed VCU both making it to the Final Four, and no 1 seeds making it the Final Four. The first time that had happend since 2006 when another 11 seed, George Mason, made an appearance in the Final Four by beating 1 seed UConn in the D.C. Regional.

teatime-with-nikki:

Wore a hundred baby rabbits last friday :P
my bebe jacket and a skirt in a blizzard… ‘cause im nuts.

Things that have pissed me off lately:

  • PINK, ‘for girls’ Barbie Kinder Surprises

I grew up having to repeatedly ask for the ‘boy’ toy at McDonalds, returning to the counter more often than not to trade the stupid barbie they gave me despite my request for my Hot Wheels
Would YOU rather a stupid girl who doesn’t move or do anything or even has real hair or a toy car with wheels?!

  • The fact that Ferrero Rocher makes Kinder Surprises and I buy those for myself every major holiday (def christmas and vday, + my bday) so I’m done buying those now.
  • & then… I saw these:

England Netball’s new mascots: the Rose Buddies. Sex doll meets Bratz meets Manga (with a pinch of Frank Sidebottom) - these are the role models designed to encourage our girls and women into playing sport.

In its newsletter, England Netball explained; “the girls, Wild Rose, Petal and Necta are very modern and designed to attract the young but will hopefully appeal to the not so young as well!”

Volunteers wearing over sized costumes of the Rose Buddies are on hand for photo opportunities. There are postcards which show them wearing skimpy outfits and they also feature in the programmes, talking about their fashion choices and how they “love nothing more than to hit the court after a day of shopping, socialising and gossip”!

Since when do aspiring girl athletes sport mini skirts?

So how do we fight?
I spent the morning writing Ferrero on how disappointed I was.
I posted on the Kinder Surprise facebook page (not Kinder Canada, but the main corporate one) and have received likes
& By making sure the young girls in our lives are educated equally and raised to be above that bs
http://www.pinkstinks.org.uk/ is a good place to start, led me to http://www.amightygirl.com/ full of wonderful resources.

I extensively read through all of Ferrero Rocher’s advertising and marketing guidelines.
And while reading about the Rose Buddies i came to this:
Our research tells us that young girls don’t identify with elite athletes. So we’ve created three stylised mascots that are relevant to the things they like. They all have their own personality – for instance, one of them likes One Direction.”

I’m sorry but are their men who love powerless women in charge of tehse research teams?
Either that or…

Hey, companies: YOU ARE DOING YOUR RESEARCH WRONG

Maybe its not that they don’t identify either, it’s that there are generations of every media outlet discouraging the identification to begin with.

What the fuck is this. I don’t play netball, but these weird doll people don’t look like someone who are prepared to play any sport. I get the UK is different than North America, but the girls I know would think this is dumb as shit.

THE STEUBENVILLE RAPISTS ARE APPEALING THE DECISION OF THE TRIAL ON THE DEFENSE THAT THEIR BRAINS “AREN’T FULLY DEVELOPED ENOUGH” TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

EXCUSE ME WHILE i SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE

This is absolute…

I hope the appeals court decides that he is correct in that he needs to be re-sentenced… and the judge gives him more time than in the first place. What a fucking dumb shit.

[TW: RAPE]

  • American media on the India gang rape: Omg those barbarians are out of control! Look at us, we're so ahead of the times!
  • American media on the Steubenville rape: Omg look at the lives we're ruining by convicting these 16 year old rapists!
  • EDIT This pisses me off: Most news sources(I'm sure there are some fucked up people out there) are not writing columns about how this is ruining the convicted rapists lives. They may be telling you how the drama in the court room is, but it's not that they truly feel sorry for these criminals. I've never seen someone realize their life is over before they even realized it, and breakdown without caring who sees it. But I can say that describing the tumultuous moments when a person realizes that is going to be like any story. A charming beginning, a climax, and the devastating end where justice has prevailed. Most of the people that reblog this actually wish that was the case just so they'll have something to scream about today. Some of you out there really want the world/USA to be full of people clamoring for the freedom of rapists. Fucking dumb. Go ahead and Google search Steubenville Rape, and you'll see they all just mention that they are convicted rapists. One does mention it as the case social media won, but it's in a positive manner. Do some fucking research before you blindly call rape culture in a dumb fucking move to get reblogs. Rapists are a problem that unfortunettly plagues our planet due to a lack of strong mental healthcare procedures. So are people that aren't actually doing anything besides rubbing one out at the thought of being tumblr famous.
  • One other note: If you do want to yell and scream over anything you should be pissed that as of right now only two people were charged, and at minimum a combined three years between them. We see children charged with murder all of the time. This boys/young men/men knew what they were doing, and should have been charged like any other rapist. In no way to I feel sorry for them. I just understand the overly dramatic ways the news networks...CNN work. Please, if you are going to reblog something as the talking point you should reblog the messages about how these guys will spend barely any time in juvy when they should be in prison.
