Want to run a fish tank with no pump? Here is what you need.

1. Adequate space for your fish! I think this is one of Dustin’s(Dustinsfishtanks) 75s or 120s, and he’s probably got maybe 40 fish in it. You’re gonna need 2-3 gallons per fish for small to medium fish.

2. Make sure to have an air pump or two. His is old, so he’s trying to see what to do about fixing it. This is from a month or so ago, and I assume he went out and got a new one.

3. Tons of plants. Spend the cash you would have on a boss filter on a wicked amount of plants. Then buy even more plants after that!

Check out Aquatic Jungles if you want any to start getting some plants. He usually offers them at a decent price, and tends to carry stuff more interesting than PetCo/PetSmart/WalMart. That being said, your local place might have a cool selection. I know I only got plants from WalMart(I live in a small town, and that’s the only fish store for 60 miles that doesn’t smell like a rat cage.), and we were able to find Amazon & Rose Swords, and some type of dark red Cryptocoryne. No small ground cover though!

I run tanks with filters, but I know some people want minimal noise/want to try and be close to nature when it comes to natural filtering.

Picked our first watermelon of the year today! I noticed the plant growing, and thought it looked like a watermelon plant so I searched for a melon. Once I found one I moved it aside, and made sure nobody pulled the plant thinking it was a weed. We also have a second melon growing in the background that should get pretty large before it gets too cold out!

Last year we had some growing in the front yard, but they were much smaller. Either way, I love random watermelons!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it’s organic(not that it’s really important) and it weighs 28 pounds!

It’s official: I hate Tropical Storm Lee. All that rain got sucked up by my citrus tree (she couldn’t help it!) and exploded every orange. Every one. I hate this stupid storm.

Plants are so stupid! This happened to some of the tomatoes I planted this year.

I think it would be so cool to have a house with green stuff growing on it!

Check out my buddy Woody’s blog as he plants and tends to crops around Risco/New Madrid, MO

Also, does anyone know why when I reblog posts it cuts off the last bit of the post? Woody’s temps were nearly the same, and I added my pool temp as a bit of humor.
